typography inspirations

To develop my work abit further at this stage, i have decided to start working on hand made typography. On doing this i see it as an oportunity to carry along some markmaking exploration around the type, thus figuring out what style will best go with my imagry.
The first illustrator that i am researching is that of eduardo recife, a "brazilian artist/illustrator, graphic designer and typographer. Recife’s illustrations have a characteristic vintage feel and an old-era style, while his favourite working media include pencil, paint, computer, photography and collages".

What Eduardo Recife has done in these images, is combine a strong vintage style of type, to go hand in hand with his image making, therefor making his work stronger, keeping up continuity throughout all aspects.

The one thing that i am very definate on, is that i want to design and create my type for this project by hand (to keep in the collage / markmaking style of mine). Seeing as i am doing work in a boutique style, there are usually vintage aspects involved with a twist of the modern, i will have to figure out a way in which i can achieve this to the best of my ability with some further research.
