Today i had my web presence class with Chris Aaran, the aim is to create a running professional website in order to get working coming in.
Chris sujested making an interactive book template, and after viewing a few examples of this i was very taken with presenting and getting my work out in this way.
I took a selected few images with me to give this a go and was very impressed with the way in which my work was presented... to create a magazine template for my illustrations on issuue.com we first scaled the images to the correct sizes and saved them for web and devices on photoshop, then transfered them over to adobe bridge to formulate the sequence in which they have been presented on my new website.
I am still in the process of adding and editing work onto this template, and hope to set my website to live in the next few weeks.

FMP Proposal
What:
The idea for my Final Major Project; is to go down the route of advertising (this being that of constina flyers and posters). I will be advertising a fashion show or boutique opening event, that would be opening in the summer / autumn period (seeing as this is when my project is due).
How:
My chosen way to work is with the use of Mixed Media, this will include such mediums as ink, paint, different coloured and textured paper, magazine cuttings along with the odd photograph here and there. All this is turn is going to be combined to create a contemporary collage style.
Colour:
Throughout my work i have set myself with a limited palete, this being pasel colours of mainly blues, pinks and yellows. I have decided to work like this because i want to generate a vintage and highend boutique feel.
This method will apply to the majority of my final pieces, with the odd outburst of forign colour to create an impact, that in turn keep the work alive and looking fesh. A good sense of contrast.
Target Audience:
For my research and designer (instead of highstreet) theme, i am looking at magazines such as Vogue, Glamour and Marie Claire ... these types of magazines are very high end and polished to perfection. I want to in a way subjectify this style into a look thats more lively and fun.
I would put my target audience from the wide range of 21 - 30.

Fig Taylor Lecture
Today the Illustrator and ex agent Fig Tayor came into talk to us about how we should go about creating our personal portfolio, in turn to help get hired.
One of the points that she couldnt stress enough was that art directors are spoilt for chioce in the UK when it comes to illustrators.
To when it comes to producing a portofio: I need to recognise my one strong style that i believe i do better over the rest, and stick to it throughout my portfolio.

- Quirky and different
- Consistant in style
- Easily remade (for example after uni, i wont have all the print making facilitys available to me - how will i produce work like this in future?)
- This is who i am, and this is how you use me
- I am sutable for the work you are looking for (research on the company)
- I don't ever have a bad day when it comes to creating my work - therefore you wont recieve a bad piece of illustration from me

What is my Project going to be about?
The style of work i produce is very fashion inspired, so for this project i am going to explore a more direct aspect of this. by working on and producing contemporary fashion Illustrations.
In the brainstorm above, i have narrowed my options down into two areas of intrest, taking into account on whether they have enough depth and content for my to explore and develop over the next 15 weeks.
To conclude my 2 options:
- I could either go down a more advertising route, by creating a new fashion range / collection... Here i would have to consider my final outcome, would it be a shop window / wall design? would i be advertising a fashion show event? - presented in a magazine layout? or as a flyer?
- Or the other route i have set myself is more editorial based - the idea of my / other peoples 'Guilty Pleasures' ... which would be presented with a combination of text, typography and images, from a number of different aspects in which i deem to be a Guilty pleasure.

Method of producing work
I have chosen not to produce work through means such as the print room because, although at the moment access to this type of equipment is easy and accessible, when it comes to showing this project in my portfolio to employers, i wont have the means to recreate what will be in my portfolio to show art directors. so in the long run making things harder for myself once i leave uni.
My way of working, works for me and i feel mixed media / collage pieces are where my strengths lie, for this project and any other.

Vogue, Glamour and Vice
To help aid me with my project i have subscribed to a few fashion magaines such as Vogue. blah blah blah (write more)
Fashion illustration styles
Looking through Fashion illustration books, and looking at fashion designers illustrations... i find that the majority of these carry that steriotypical (usuallly) unrealistic look - as shown above.
This is the type of style that i aim to steer clear of, as when it comes to the drawn design of clothing this is all well and good. but i am going for a more contemporary repretentation of "vintage" and an aspect of realism.

Presentation document
To go alongside my FMP, i am going to be keeping an informal yet reflective journal of my day to day decisions concerning my project. It will show all my decisions and the reasonings behind them every step of the way.
Throughout my presentation document, i am going to constantly be asking myself questions that need answering; for example...
